Amritsar 1983

Images of India float around the web. They bring up a lot of conflicting feelings. There we are smiling for the camera. Smiling for our parents back home, not yet knowing how disassociated we would become from them. It's taken a long to time to have a parent/child relationship again - but now we're adults! so we settle for being family.

  1. Hi Kelly, I love your blog! It is brave, well-written, informative and most importantly, a first-hand account. So glad to have found it! I was forwarded it by Nirmal Loves Nihangs in response to an essay I wrote on my own blog about my very short-lived 3HO experience, entitled, "David Duchovny Saved my Life." I look forward to reading more about your experiences. Thank you for sharing yours!

  2. Soo, I just stumbled upon this and I'm not sure how regularly you check this blog but... I went to Amritsar Academy between 87-90. I wasn't a Sikh and wasn't being boarded. I never understood what all was going on behind the scenes but have read some of your blog posts and am happy to know a little more about what I was being exposed to. I look at this photo and think of the friends I met while I was there. thanks for putting info online.

Please only comment if you have something intelligent to say. And if your goal is to flood my boards with silly propaganda, please do so elsewhere, you're wasting your time here.
